The Diamond Beach is a strip of black sand belonging to the greater Breiðamerkursandur glacial plain, located by Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon on the South Coast of Iceland.
Diamond beach is such a gorgeous place to walk along seeing the ice from the glacier that has floated out from the lagoon and was pushed back up onto the beach from the ocean. Shining against the dark background of the black beach these remnant of the glacier look like diamonds, hence the name.
I was lucky enough to spend an afternoon walking along the lagoon, pictures to come soon, and the beach. This was simply one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. The water and ice coming from these glaciers have to be some of the bluest water I have ever seen in my life. It is extremely hard to explain and the pictures do not do it justice, it is simply something that must be experienced.
So if you are ever on the southeastern part of Iceland you need to make sure to stop and experience it yourself.
